Vijayawada: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) AP publicity secretary M. Rafeeq announced that the organisation is organising a Waqf Protection Maha Sabha on 3 November in Vijayawada to oppose amendments to the Waqf Act by the Central Government and to advocate for further protection of Waqf properties. Addressing a press meeting, he expressed concern that the central government is taking steps with the malicious intention of confiscating lakhs of acres of Waqf land and properties worth lakhs of crores, which Muslims have dedicated to Allah (Waqf) under the guise of the Waqf Act Amendment Bill.
Rafeeq further lamented that this amendment is part of an official conspiracy to seize Waqf lands from Muslims, depriving them of any rights over these properties and handing them over to powerful political figures. He stated that it is imperative to protect our Waqf Board and the properties that our forefathers dedicated to the Muslim community for its betterment and development. He asserted the need to initiate a legal battle for the protection of Waqf properties. Rafeeq added that JIH is organising a significant public meeting on 3 November at 5:00 PM at the local Kummaripalem Eidgah Grounds in Vijayawada, appealing to minorities to attend the meeting to safeguard Waqf lands.
