Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said that in a major reform, over 150 governmental services will soon be made available to the people via WhatsApp.

“People need not have to run to government offices to get small things done. For instance, once farmers post a message on WhatsApp, grain will be purchased from them,” he said in the state assembly on Wednesday.

The chief minister shared his vision for AP on the first 150 days of his government, and affirmed, “I will not flee from my responsibilities. Whether in power or out of it, I always worked for the people.”

On the topic of rising investments, Naidu announced various policies intended to attract businesses to AP. He cited the collaboration with NTPC and GENCO to invest `1 lakh crore in Visakhapatnam and the potential `65,000 crore investments from Reliance Biogas, “which could create employment for 250,000 people.”

“Wonders will not happen overnight. We are building the state brick by brick. The systems which were off the track have been restored. There is evidence that the state is now under a whopping `10 lakh cr debt, caused by the previous government. Law and order will be accorded the highest priority,” he said, and sent out a strong warning to those who harass/molest girls.

“We will also hold a rally this month against the drugs menace. The entire police set-up will be strengthened,” he said.

Naidu said those who have ration cards and Aadhar cards are eligible for the Deepam-2 scheme. “Till now 42.40 lakh consumers have booked gas cylinders through this scheme. The money will be credited to the accounts of consumers within 48 hours of booking the cylinder.”

Recalling his journey in politics for more than four decades since 1978 when he was first elected as MLA for the first time, Naidu said, "Lord Venkateswara has given me rebirth after I was attacked with 24 claymore mines. I really felt very bad when my family and I were subjected to humiliation in this very house."

The chief minister said that in the combined AP, he had held the post of CM for nine years and functioned as opposition leader for 10 years. “In the present AP, I am holding the CM post for a second term and I was the opposition leader for five years.”

He assured the house that safe drinking water will be supplied through the Jal Jeevan Mission across the state. “Our government is moving ahead with the policy of 'job first'. An exercise is already on to fill 16,347 vacant teacher posts. More and more incentives will be provided to those who create more jobs.”

The chief minister told the assembly: “There is no question of a compromise on checking the activities of social media psychos and the ganja mafia. "For those who humiliate women, that will be the last day."
