Vijayawada: Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy announced his intention to lodge a complaint with the Central Election Commission (CEC) seeking the derecognition of the YSRC for allegedly misusing public funds to pay salaries to their party’s social media activists between 2019 and 2024, when the YSRC was in power.

Somireddy claimed that the ysrc-led state government utilised social media activists within the ap digital corporation and ap fibernet corporation to launch personal attacks against opposition leaders, including character assassination campaigns targeting even Y.S. Vijayamma and Y.S. Sharmila, the mother and sister of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Somireddy alleged that the AP digital corporation, under Vasudeva Reddy, employed 65 staff members, including 12 YSRC social media activists paid lakhs from public funds to spread misinformation. He further accused Varra Ravindra Reddy of being paid substantial sums to post abusive content under the direction of Y.S. Avinash Reddy.

Additionally, he alleged that around 600 employees were hired at ap fibernet by Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and others to target opposition leaders. Somireddy questioned whether the CEC has provisions to act against such misuse of public funds by political parties in power.
