Vijayawada: Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh gave clarity on the Red Book on Friday, saying the present government "will not leave anyone whose name figures in the Red Book" in relation to law violations in AP.

The minister was speaking at an event at which he relaunched the Anna Canteens at Nulakapeta and at the old bus stand in Mangalagiri. He claimed that the TD-led government “brought hunger to an end” in AP with the re-launch of Anna Canteens.

Citing instances of law violations in the past, Lokesh asked, "The son of former minister Jogi Ramesh had purchased the Agrigold lands but got these lands registered with fake documents. Should we not take action against such persons?" Lokesh stood in the queue along with the ordinary people and had his breakfast at the launch event.

The education minister said a search committee would be formed preparatory to the appointment of permanent VCs in the universities.

Lokesh recalled that while in the Opposition he had personally funded four Anna Canteens in the Mangalagiri assembly segment. “These canteens served food at a nominal `2 per meal in Mangalagiri town, Nulakapeta in Tadepalli, Railpet in Duggirala and Revendrapadu,” he said.

He said the YSRC government shut down the Anna Canteens by saying it did not have `200 crore to spend on this. "Our goal is that the Anna Canteens should run permanently. A trust will soon be formed which will run the canteens in a transparent way," he said.

The minister said the three-party alliance was willing to accommodate those from the opposition, but “anyone who wants to join the alliance should first resign the post he or she currently held.”
