Visakhapatnam: A young woman suffered severe injuries when her stalker attacked her with an iron rod near Pedagantyada Balacheruvu in Gajuwaka area of Visakhapatnam on Thursday.

The victim Meghna Donkada has been rushed to a nearby hospital, where she received 30 stitches for head injuries. Doctors are scanning her brain to assess the full extent of her injuries.

Meghna had been attacked by Neeraj Sharma, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, who had been persistently harassing her for months. Meghna had repeatedly rejected his advances.

Neeraj repeatedly hit her with an iron road when she had been alone at her house and fled from the scene.

Speaking to media, Meghna's father said: "For the past eight months, Neeraj has been harassing our family by sending pornographic content and AI-morphed videos to our relatives. We filed two complaints against him, one with the Cybercrime station and another at the regular police station."

The family disclosed that they had initially met the accused at the Om Shanti Ashram. "We're now living in fear," the father stated.

Newport police have registered a case and are investigating.

Locals said a constable heard the girl screaming and attempted to force open the door of the house. At that moment, the accused fled, discarding his shirt and quickly putting on a T-shirt. He ran barefoot along the railway track to evade capture, locals added.
