Kakinada: The controversial letter from Telugu Desam Politburo member and former minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has stirred a hornet’s nest.
While the YSRC East Godavari district president and former minister Chelluboyina Srinivasa Venugopalakrishna supported the stand of Yanamala, TD leader and the former deputy chairman of the legislative council, Reddy Subrahmanyam, found fault with Yanamala.Gopalakrishna said BCs in TD were facing a lot of injustice and Yanamala’s remarks were justified. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as chief minister had given opportunities to the BCs who were unable to win the elections by giving them senior-level posts.“Jagan Reddy did justice to the BCs in YSRC. When elections were held for eight seats in parliament, Jagan Reddy gave four seats to BCs. But now, Naidu forced fishermen leader Mopidevi Venkata Ramana to exit Rajya Sabha. Naidu, instead, sold the RS seat to Sana Satish. With this decision, Chandrababu suppressed the voice of the BCs,” Gopalakrishna added.Reddy Subrahmanyam found fault with Yanamala Ramakrishnudu’s stand. He noted that the party had given him important post like that of finance minister etc to Yanamala. If he had any issue, he should have raised it in the party forums. A senior leader should not come out in this manner to damage the image of the party, he said. He also pointed out that among the BCs, the Settibalija community accounted for the largest percentage, but Ramakrishnudu had successfully blocked the Settibalijas from getting anyimportant post. However, Ramakrishnudu denied the charges and said he had done nothing to damage the party. He told Deccan Chronicle that he had only cited the poor living conditions of KSEZ farmers and the people of the area. “They have sacrificed their lands and are having miserable lives due to poverty. The corporate forces, that too only three people like KV Rao, GMR and Aurobindo, have become richest of the richest out of the KSEZ.” Ramakrishnudu said his aim was to protect the KSEZ area from pollution and ensure good living conditions to the people of KSEZ area. “I had already told the chief minister’s office not to oppose the TD or government’s stand, but requested them to do justice to the KSEZpeople.”
