Vijayawada: With only a few days remaining for the counting of votes on June 4, the YSRC is strategising its post-results plans and has alerted its counting agents to keep a close vigil against suspected manipulations at the counting centres.

A workshop was held here on Tuesday for YSRC cadres and counting agents, at which they were advised to keep an eye on the counting agents of the opposition parties, mainly of the Telugu Desam.

Addressing the workshop, party general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said the Telugu Desam had caused ruckuses and attacked YSRC agents during polling. More such attempts could be expected from the TD as “it is now conspiring to create troubles and disturbances at the counting centres.”

He asked the agents to contact the central election office of the party in case a tricky situation arose so that necessary advice and instructions could be given. “Be very careful about postal ballots too and know the rules thoroughly. In the Guntur LS polls in 2019, our party lost thousands of votes polled in postal ballots. Each vote is valuable.”

Ramakrishna Reddy said, “We have complained to the Election Commission regarding the postal ballot rule changes, and there will be fresh instructions. These will be communicated to everyone.”

He said, “Since the beginning of the election process, Telugu Desam leaders and its chief N. Chandrababu Naidu had been trying to manipulate the system and turn things in their favour. Everyone should be fully aware of the rules and regulations of the Election Commission. The Opposition will try to play foul. We have to be more careful this time as EC's behaviour in the recent weeks has raised suspicions.”

Ramakrishna Reddy asserted that the YSRC will come back to power.

MLC Lella Appi Reddy said that all chief counting agents have already been given appropriate instructions regarding 175 Assembly and 25 Parliament constituencies. A cell has been set up in the central party office to answer their doubts. A booklet has been sent to agents regarding the EC regulations, he said.

Retired RDO Prabhakar gave suggestions to those who attended the meeting and cleared their doubts.
