Kakinada: YSRC MLC K. Padma Shri has resigned from her MLC post. She was elected as an MLC last year during the tenure of former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, representing the Backward Castes community. According to sources, she is now expected to join the Telugu Desam soon.

Padma Shri, who holds an M.A. and an M.Phil., is known as a non-controversial politician with a strong academic background. She has conducted extensive research on the livelihood of fishermen and their challenging conditions and has previously submitted multiple representations to Union Ministers on these issues.

Padma Shri's dedication to addressing the concerns of the people caught the attention of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who was reportedly impressed by her abilities.

During an agitation in New Delhi led by Jagan Mohan Reddy, Padma Shri presented a representation to the Union minister for fisheries, Rajiv Ranjan Singh. She requested the construction of sheds for fish net making and the provision of necessary equipment and materials, as well as consideration for environmental factors. The minister assured her that these issues would be addressed.
