Vijayawada: Individuals going in a car indiscriminately stabbed an 18-year-old boy riding to death for not giving side to their vehicle on the Chirala-Epurupalem road on Tuesday night.

Circle inspector G. Somasekhar of Chirala II Town police said the boy Sayeed Arif (18), a resident of Chirala, had visited the residence of his friend Konduri Sathya in Sathinagar of Perala in the evening. Towards the night, Arif left for his house in Chirala but forgot his bag at Sathya’s house.

Noticing this later, Sathya took the bag on his motorcycle and handed it over to Arif. Subsequently, they started towards Chirala with Arif on his bicycle and Sathya on his motorbike.

Around this time, certain people in a car (registration number AP 07 DD 9603) proceeding towards Epurupalem kept honking at Sathya and Arif from behind. This led to a verbal altercation. The occupants of the car got out with knives in their hands and indiscriminately started stabbing Arif, injuring him severely, before fleeing in their car, the inspector said.

Sathya then informed his uncle and the father of Arif who shifted the injured boy to Kamakshi Hospital for treatment. Arif was subsequently shifted to the Government Area Hospital in Chirala, where he died.

Police have booked a case under sections 103(1), 115(2) r/w 3(5) BNS and are making efforts to nab the accused.
