BJP seeks from Governor details of AP’s finances

Vijayawada: A 11-member Bharatiya Janata Party delegation led by its Andhra Pradesh president D. Purandeswari called on Governor S. Abdul Nazeer at Raj Bhavan here on Friday, seeking details of AP’s financial status.

In a representation submitted to the Governor, the BJP delegation asked the Governor to direct the state chief secretary to furnish the information on several financial matters related to Andhra Pradesh.
They include total outstanding liabilities of AP as per the latest RBI list; list of payables to contractors and suppliers uploaded in CFMS but remain unpaid; list of bills received but not yet uploaded to CFMS, loans taken by state corporations in the last five years and diverted to the state; amounts borrowed by pledging state’s assets; amounts due to government employees and contractors; TD / DA and pension dues; and list of all other payables to various agencies, such as civil supplies corporations and power producers.
The BJP delegation sought details of total interest and repayment obligations per year on these loans. It said that though the state government is supposed to release ₹14,000 crore for various welfare schemes, only a small portion had been released. It asked for information on the current status and possible release orders.
The delegation wanted details of the current number of contempt cases pending against the state government. The delegation members told the Governor that there is a crucial need to improve AP’s image as an investment destination, reduce litigation and make timely payments for works done and services rendered.
Later, state BJP chief Purandeswari told media that the Governor has the right to seek details of state’s finances from AP government. She faulted the government for clearing bills owed to contractors of its choice even as the poll code had been in force.
