Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) held a state-wide dharna on Monday, protesting the police thrashing activists who had demanded announcement of recruitment notifications.

On June 22, BJYM activists held a sit-in protest outside the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) office in Hyderabad, demanding an increase in the number of posts in Group 2 and 3 notifications.

However, the police lathicharged the activists to break up the sit-in. A number of BJYM activists were injured and admitted to hospitals.

BJYM activists, led by state president Sevella Mahender, the district president Vamshi Yadav and Bukka Praveen, burnt the effigy of the state government on Monday. They condemned the lathi-charge incident.

They demanded Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy fulfil poll promises by announcing Group 2 and Group 3 notifications. The earlier BRS government also failed to address the problems of unemployed youth, they said.

The BJYM demanded the TGPSC qualify students on a ratio of 1:100 for the mains exam of Group 1 from the preliminary examinations, increase the number of posts in Group 2 and 3 notifications, announce a mega DSC for recruitment of 25,000 teachers and release the job calendar.
