A Chennai man accuses a Rapido driver of charging him significantly higher than the displayed in the app.

A Chennai customer had accused a Rapido driver of charging him ₹1,000 for a 21 km ride, significantly higher than the ₹350 fare displayed in the app. Ashok Raj Rajendran, founder of AJ Skill Development Academy, claimed the driver cited waterlogging as the reason for the fare increase. After negotiating, Rajendran settled on ₹800, but noted there was no waterlogging during the ride.

In a LinkedIn post, he expressed frustration over Rapido’s customer service, stating the company “simply closed the chat” after he reported the issue. A screenshot he shared showed Rapido claiming the extra fare was due to a “discrepancy in the dropped locations,” which Rajendran clarified was only a 100-meter difference.

He criticised Rapido for their lack of action against drivers demanding extra pay, questioning the purpose of their complaint option if not taken seriously.
