Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday asked if the Congress was opposing the abrogation of Article 370 because the people of J&K had found liberation from the clutches of dynastic parties and backwardness or because the SC and ST communities had got their rights of reservation which has been denied to them.

In a statement marking the anniversary of abrogation of Article 370, he asked: “Is it because all unjust, discriminatory laws of J&K removed with 890 central laws applied and 205 state laws repealed….

Is the Congress observing black day because the panchayats in the Valley got funds for their local area development.”

Kishan Reddy pointed out that more than 60 lakh domicile certificates were issued to categories discriminated for decades such as West Pakistan refugees, Valmikis, Gorkhas and safai karamcharis.

The valley is witnessing faster growth and development with the Prime Minister’s development package of ₹58,477 crore for 53 projects, he said.

The average Muslim who lives on tourism is able to live happily due to the major fillip given to tourism with a record 2.11 crore tourist visits recorded in 2023, he said. “But, the Congress is not able to see the development and closed its eyes and it is finding everything black.”
