Nizamabad/Medak: For the first time, non-ministers will hoist the national flag on Independence Day on August 15 in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. The Congress government gave the chance to chairpersons of state corporations to unfurl the flag.

Telangana state tourism development corporation chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy and Telangana state mineral development corporation chairman Eravathri Anil will respectively hoist the national flag in Kamareddy and Nizamabad district headquarters.

Congress cadre of the undivided Nizamabad district expected advisor to the state government Mohammad Ali Shabbir would hoist the national flag in Kamareddy. However, the state government gave him Adilabad district responsibility on Independence Day.

In Sangareddy and Siddipet districts, as usual, ministers Damodar C Rajanarsimha and Ponnam Prabhakar will unfurl the tricolour flag on Thursday. In Medak, Government advisor K. Keshav Rao will hoist the national flag.

In Medak, the invitation card prepared by the district administration attracted controversy. BRS leaders raised an objection over protocol violation in the invitation card. The former chief minister and the Leader of the Opposition K. Chandrashekar Rao’s name was listed along with other MLAs in the district and given no priority in the card.

The respective district administration made elaborate arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. Awards will be presented to the best employees and cultural programmes will be conducted on the occasion.
