DC Photojournalists Bag Prizes in State-level Competition

Hyderabad: Pictures taken by Deccan Chronicle photojournalists, P. Surendra and K. Durga Rao were rewarded in the state-level news photo competition, under the aegis of the Telangana Photojournalists Association (TPA), with the second prize and a consolation prize, respectively.

The competition, organised on Sunday to mark the World Photography Day, saw the participation of nearly 100 photojournalists from across all districts of Telangana, according to TPA president Anumalla Gangadhar and general secretary K.N. Hari.

The event included a photo exhibition where the jury, comprising B. Ayodhya Reddy (CM's CPRO), senior journalist Ch. Sushil Rao, and senior photojournalist H. Satheesh, evaluated the entries.

Mahimal Bhaskar Reddy from a Telugu daily in Siddipet clinched the first prize, which carries a cash reward of Rs.10,000, while P. Surendra’s second prize was worth Rs.8,000. The third prize of Rs.5,000 was awarded to A. Tarun from a city English daily. Additionally, 25 consolation prizes of Rs.2,000 each were awarded to photojournalists from various publications, including Durga Rao.

The photo exhibition will be inaugurated by I&PR minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday. The event will also see the presence of Telangana Media Academy chairman K. Srinivas Reddy and Telangana State Working Journalists' Association president K. Virahat Ali.
