Do Not Insult Jagan, YSRC: Naidu to Cadre

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused the YSRC government of bringing in perverse trends in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, damaging its rich traditions.

Addressing the AP Legislative Assembly on Saturday, he advised members of the Telugu Desam not to insult MLAs of opposition parties, including their leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Naidu reminded his legislators that people have given them a great victory in the general elections, which is a big responsibility.

During his maiden speech in the present Assembly, the Chief Minister regretted that the previous ruling dispensation has turned the Assembly into a Kaurava Sabha, levelling baseless allegations and highly objectionable comments against opposition leaders and even their family members.

"I have now entered this highly respectable house with all the blessings of the people," Naidu maintained.

He made it clear that the capital should be built, rivers must be interlinked to solve the water problem, Polavaram should be completed, the state must receive investments, the youth should get employment and schools must be reformed. He observed that to achieve all these goals, the House should run in a systematic manner.

Recalling the highly derisive comments made against the then opposition (Telugu Desam) for winning only 23 Assembly seats, the Chief Minister said the current National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has won 164 seats, which comes to 1+6+4 = 11, the number of seats that the YSRC has won.

Pointing out the comments against Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan that YSRC will not allow him to even touch the gates of the Assembly, Naidu pointed out that now JS has emerged victorious in all the 21 seats that it contested. "The Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan knows where to win and where to bow down," he remarked.

Maintaining that he has won Assembly elections nine times, functioned as the Chief Minister for 14 years and as Leader of the Opposition for 15 years, Naidu said he has got the rare opportunity of discharging his duties in both the positions.

Recalling the bomb attack on him in Tirupati, he said even at that time, he did not have any regrets. "But on the floor of the House, these leaders passed highly objectionable comments against my wife, who does not have any connection with politics," Naidu recalled.

The CM later visited the Telugu Desam party headquarters and accepted applications from the public.

As the Chief Minister visited the party office on Saturday, hundreds of people and party activists called on him and submitted memoranda seeking his help to resolve their problems.

Naidu personally visited everyone who was standing in the queue near the main entrance gate of the TD office and received the applications from them. Later, he chaired the TD Parliamentary Party meeting inside the party office and discussed various issues.
