Hyderabad: BJP MP from Malkajgiri Etala Rajendar met Union minister for defence Rajnath Singh in Delhi and urged him to give clarity on all civil areas from the Secunderabad Cantonment to be merged in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi on Wednesday, Rajendar pointed out that 16 Civil bazaars and other civilian areas are located in Secunderabad Cantonment limits. The Central government should give a clear clarity on Cantonment areas to be merged with the GHMC and also transfer the services of employees working with the Cantonment Board to the GHMC and ensure their pension.

The Cantonment limits have many `B3 Lands’, which were given on 99 year lease to some private persons during the British rule. The government should also take a clear stand on these B3 lands. The lands are under the control of some private persons having `Holden of Occupancy Rights’.

Rajender also urged the Central government to set up new industries in place of some public sector units like IDPL and HMT closed down long back to provide employment to unemployed youth.

He also urged the Urban Development Ministry to take up civic works constructing underpasses, flyovers, express roads, parks in Malkajgiri limits. The Hyderabad city extended without any master plan in Malkajgiri limits and the civic amenities are not in order in this part of the city, he said.
