GHMC Pumps Water from Yellampally

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has started emergency pumping from Yellampally after a gap of eight years. At least 20 pumps have been installed and water is being pumped through seven pumps while the remaining pumps will be used in a phased manner, said an HMWS&SB official.

Madhapur, Kondapur, Gachibowli, HITEC City, Lingampally, Miyapur, Chandanagar, Kukatpally, Kukatpally Housing Board Colony, Quthbullapur, Alwal and Malkajgiri are the areas where water is supplied only through Godavari (Sripada Yellampally).

"Pumping has been started as a precautionary measure to avoid any problems related to supply of drinking water to the city," said HMWS&SB managing director (MD) C Sudarshan Reddy in a release.

He inspected the emergency pumping works set up at Murmur of Yellampally project on Thursday. Recently, the HMWS&SB started emergency pumping from Nagarjunasagar, after a gap of eight years.
