Government Committed to Warangal’s Facelift: Srinivas Reddy
Warangal: The Congress government is committed to all round development of the historical city of Warangal, said in-charge minister of Warangal district Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Thursday.
Speaking after a review meeting with public representatives and officials, the minister said during his recent visit to Warangal, chief minister Revanth Reddy had given many promises to Warangal district and the government is committed to fulfill all of them.
Warangal is the second largest city in the state, next to Hyderabad. The minister asked the officials to prepare a master plan keeping in view the fast-growing population of the city and its size by 2050. The master plan will have spaces for pharma, IT services and manufacturing units, tourism, and establishment of dumping yards, he said.
The officials must prepare DPRs which were proposed by the government and must submit them within time, he said, adding steps should be taken for construction of ORR connecting national highways, for free movement of traffic and efforts should start to acquire land.
CM Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the Kaloji Kalakshetram on the occasion of ninth birth anniversary of Kaloji Narayana Rao which falls on September 9.
The minister was upset with the officials of R&B department for delaying the completion of the Road Over Bridge at Ayodhyapuram in Kazipet. What is the use of keeping drawing sheets without taking up and completing the work, he questioned.
Officials were directed to expand nalas by removing encroachments on them to prevent Warangal city from floods and free flow of flood water. For this they must conduct a special drive and strengthen the Disaster Response Force (DSR) teams, he said.
The review meeting discussed, among other things, land acquisition for ORR alignment, designing of master plan, construction of underground drainage system, completion of Kaloji Kalakshetram, construction of retaining walls under GWMC limits, construction of soaking pits and establishment of a medical college in Narsampet.
