Anantapur: A head constable and a home guard in Chandragiri mandal of Tirupati district have been suspended following allegations of negligence in preventing illegal quarrying.

Residents of Mallaiah Palli village in Chandragiri mandal had filed a complaint with the local circle inspector, regarding unauthorised gravel quarrying and transportation in their area. The circle inspector instructed head constable S. Basavayya and homeguard Sudhakar to take action against those involved. However, both ignored the orders, sources said.

Frustrated by the lack of proper response, the villagers escalated the matter to Tirupati SP L. Subba Rayudu. The SP immediately ordered an internal inquiry into the incident. Upon confirmation of the villagers' claims, SP Subba Rayudu issued suspension orders for both Basavayya and Sudhakar effective immediately.

Additionally, a memo was issued to the Chandragiri Circle Inspector.

The SP warned that acts of negligence, corruption, and dereliction of duty would not be tolerated. He emphasised the importance of commitment to duty and stated that appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against those who fail to meet these standards.
