ACB Raids in Hyderabad: Police and Engineers Arrested for Bribery

ACB officials arrest police officers and engineers in Hyderabad for accepting bribes, recovering Rs 4 lakh in two separate incidents

The ACB officials recovered a Rs 3 lakh bribe amount from the accused officers and tested positive in a chemical test.

Hyderabad: The ACB officials on Saturday conducted raids at two different places in Hyderabad and arrested officers for accepting bribes for doing officials' favor.

In the first case, the ACB officials conducted raids on Kushaiguda police station and caught red handed three persons including Kushaiguda Inspector G Veera Swamy, Sub Inspector Shaik Shafi and L Upender, a private person for accepting Rs 3 lakh bribe from the complainant Singireddy Bharat Reddy in making a favour in connection with the trespassing case which was registered by the police.

The Police officers demanded the bribe from the complainant to make not to arrest and any serious action in the trespassing case. The ACB officials recovered a Rs 3 lakh bribe amount from the accused officers and tested positive in a chemical test.

In another case, the ACB officials arrested K Basilal, Executive Engineer, K Karthik and H Nikesh Kumar, Assistant Engineers, and P Ganesh, surveyor at the AW section of Irrigation department for accepting Rs 1 lakh bribe for doing official favour.

The agency officials caught the four accused officers for accepting bribes from the complainant Bommu Upendranath Reddy, resident of Manikonda for processing the file to issue a NoC to construct a building in Manikonda. The accused demanded Rs 2.50 lakh as total bribe and the complainant paid off Rs 1.50 lakh. When the accused demanded the remaining Rs 1 lakh, the ACB officials conducted raids and arrested the accused officers.
