Vijayawada: Union minister of state for rural development and communications Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar on Sunday emphasised that the central and state governments are committed to expanding 4G services across India as quickly as possible.

He asserted that the goal is to achieve 70 per cent 4G coverage in India by September and 100 per cent by March 2025.

On the day, the union minister visited the BSNL office at Tadikonda with area MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar. He inspected a newly installed 4G tower.

Chandrasekhar emphasised on the need to provide affordable internet services, especially in rural areas, to reduce the burden on people when availing the services.

For the purpose, he said, BSNL is being modernised to provide 4G services, which is in alignment with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

The union minister maintained that the government is prioritising high-quality 4G services in Andhra Pradesh. Testing of these services is already going on at 300 locations. Equipment is being installed at 400 centres to provide 4G services. He asserted that their goal is to make internet services accessible and affordable for all citizens.

The union minister said BSNL is playing a crucial role in this initiative by modernising its infrastructure. He declared that the overall aim of the government is to bridge the digital divide and provide better connectivity to people in rural areas.
