BENGALURU: Chief Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Tushar Girinath on Monday said to have formed a 3-member committee to find out the quality of works at Rajashankar playground in Malleswaram of Bengaluru city where an 11-year-old identified as Niranjan died after an iron gate fell on him on Sunday. The playground is maintained by BBMP under Gandhinagar Assembly seat.

Meanwhile, Malleshwaram police registered a First Information Report (FIR). Regarding the complaints of substandard works at the playground, Tushar Girinath said the 3-member committee includes the Chief Engineer of Quality Control and the Committee will submit its report in a week. Any complaints on substandard works shall be brought to the notice of the 3-member committee.

Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha Bengaluru Central P.C. Mohan stated the tragedy could have been averted had officials concerned taken note of the warnings a year back.

“I demand a thorough investigation into the case and push for an immediate audit of all parks to prevent such tragedies in future,” said the MP while demanding suitable action against those responsible for the tragic death of Niranjan, son of an auto-rickshaw driver. Members of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) welcomed FIR registered in the case.
