Vijayapura: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Central Disciplinary Committee has issued a show cause notice to Bijapur City MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for a "serious breach of party discipline." The notice, dated December 1 and signed by committee member secretary Om Pathak, cites Yatnal’s public statements and actions that defy the party's leadership and directives.
The notice highlights Yatnal’s continued criticism of the party's state leadership, particularly former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and BJP Karnataka president B.Y. Vijayendra. According to the letter, Yatnal’s remarks and actions have caused concern within the party, with complaints reportedly raised by Vijayendra’s supporters to the central leadership in Delhi.
“You have continued to make public pronouncements in contravention of the party's official stand on political and public matters. Despite previous show cause notices and your assurances of good conduct, acts of indiscipline have persisted,” the notice stated.
The disciplinary committee has warned Yatnal that failure to respond within 10 days will lead to further action. It also notes that his behavior constitutes a violation of Article XXV of BJP Party Rules under the "Breach of Discipline" section.
In response, Yatnal addressed the matter on his official X handle, stating, “I will respond to the notice issued by the BJP Disciplinary Committee Chairman, while also presenting the facts regarding the current state of the BJP in Karnataka. My commitment to the fight for Hindutva, opposition to corruption, Waqf-related issues, and dynasty politics will remain unwavering.”
Yatnal has been a vocal critic of the BJP’s state leadership and has frequently clashed with senior leaders, drawing significant attention to his activities. This latest disciplinary action underscores the growing tensions within the party.
