BENGALURU: The padayatra undertaken by the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal Secular (JDS) pressing for the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over alleged scams in over alleged scams in Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and fraudulent transactions in the bank accounts of Valmiki Corporation, is giving “sleepless nights to the Congress leaders,” observed State unit president of BJP and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra.

Resuming padayatra from Channapatna on Monday, Vijayendra said the padayatra made Congress high command to send general secretaries-K.C. Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala to Bengaluru on Sunday and they have appealed to Ministers and MLAs to back Siddaramaiah.

“Where is the question of threat to the State Government when there are 136 MLAs in the ruling party?” he said and stated “How can BJP threaten the State Government having 136 MLAs?” Adding, he said, “There is no question of threatening the State Government but BJP has been discharging its duties as a responsible opposition party in the State” and observed the Chief Minister is in a state of confusion since his government is involved in scams.

He said the padayatra gained enough support of the people against the ruling Congress party and the participation of the people in the padayatra has been enthusiastic and stated the padayatra is not for name sake but a fight to teach a fitting lesson to the Congress party over the alleged Rs 187 crore scam in Valimki Corporation and MUDA plot distribution irregularities.

Vijaynedra termed the development under the Congress government to have come to a standstill and engaged in looting of public money. “The people of the State curse Siddaramaiah and his government,” he stated.

However, the State BJP Chief termed the decision of the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to get 100 houses constructed for landslide victims of Wayanad in Kerala but criticized CM over his alleged neglect in distribution of plots in Mysore city, his home turf, where hundreds of applicants are waiting for plots distribution by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
