Hubballi: BJP MLCs N. Ravi Kumar and D.S. Arun lodged a formal complaint with the Chairperson of the Legislative Council, alleging a breach of legislative privileges during the final day of the winter session at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on December 19.

The complaint was submitted on Friday at the Chairperson’s residence in Hubballi.

The complaint detailed incidents, including an alleged physical assault by miscreants and the personal assistant of Karnataka Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar. It further stated that police forcibly detained BJP legislators who were peacefully protesting on the Vidhana Soudha steps, with some taken to Hirebagewadi and Khanapur police stations.

“At Khanapur, we found CT Ravi in custody. Despite questioning the police, they provided no explanation for his detention and refused to register our complaint or file an FIR,” the complaint lodged with the Council chairperson alleged.

The leaders also accused the police of driving Ravi around Belagavi and nearby areas overnight without taking him to Bengaluru as claimed. He was presented before the district court only at 10.30 am on December 20.

“These incidents constitute a grave breach of privilege for all Members of the Legislative Council. We urge an investigation and strict action against those responsible,” they added.
