MANGALURU: Union Minister and former Karnataka BJP president Pralhad Joshi has stated that the party’s internal election process, from the booth level to the national level, is currently underway.
Responding to a query at a press conference in Mangaluru about discussions over changes in Karnataka’s state leadership, Joshi spoke about the internal election process.
“Mark my words carefully—it should not be misunderstood and displayed as if I have said something else. The BJP is a party that conducts its internal elections transparently, unlike the Congress and other parties that merely complete the process on paper. We have initiated the process, with election for the booth-level presidents already completed, and Mandal-level elections currently in progress. Following this, elections for district, state, and national presidents will also be conducted,” Joshi explained.
When asked about the timing of the elections, given that state president BY Vijayendra has completed only a year in his position, Joshi clarified that the process is nationwide.
“The process is happening across the country. I did not say he will not return. Elections are a standard part of our procedure,” he said.
Joshi also pointed out that many leaders, including Vijayendra, were appointed to their positions a few months ago as it was inevitable.
“In several places, appointments were made recently. However, as part of this nationwide exercise, elections will be conducted even in those cases,” he added.
Highlighting the BJP’s structured approach, Joshi mentioned that senior leaders have been designated to oversee the election process of state president in every state.
“While I am in charge of the state president’s election in Kerala, Shivraj Singh Chauhan is overseeing the process in Karnataka,” Joshi noted.
