CM Siddaramaiah: BPL Card Verification Won’t Affect Eligible Holders

 Bagalkot: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has clarified that only ineligible Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards will be retrieved, and there will be no impact on the eligible cardholders.

“No final decision has been taken yet. The Food Department is currently verifying these cases. However ineligible individuals will not retain cards, and eligible beneficiaries will not be denied their cards,” Siddaramaiah declared while speaking to reporters on his arrival at Bagalkot.

“Should we give BPL cards to those who pay income tax and government employees?” he questioned.

When asked about BJP leader R. Ashoka’s statement regarding the BJP government being cleared of 40 percent commission charges, the Chief Minister remarked, “We initiated an investigation based on the allegations from the Contractors' Association President Kempanna. It is possible for suspects to be released due to a lack of evidence, but that does not imply the crime did not occur. It simply indicates insufficient evidence,” he added.
