CM Siddaramaiah Pays Tribute to Karnataka Soldiers Martyred in J& K Accident

Belagavi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah paid his final respects to the mortal remains of the soldiers who were martyred in a tragic accident in Jammu and Kashmir.

The CM offered tribute to Subedar Dayanand Tirakannavar and Sep Mahesh Marigond at the ceremony held in Belagavi.

Of the five killed in the accident, three are from Karnataka. While Dayanand is from Belagavi, Mahesh is from Bagalkot and Lance Havildar Anoop Poojary is from Udupi district.

Speaking to the media Siddaramaiah emphasized the significance of soldiers, teachers, and farmers in building the nation.

“The life and career of soldiers, who protect our country, deserve the highest respect. It is deeply saddening that soldiers were martyred in this tragic accident in Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir. I pray for peace for their souls and share in the grief of their families,” he said.

The Chief Minister assured that the state government would provide all necessary assistance to the bereaved families as per established norms.

The accident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Pir Panjal Valley of Poonch district, when the vehicle carrying the soldiers skidded off the road, resulting in the death of five soldiers and injuries to five others.

The five soldiers who lost their lives were identified as Subedar Dayanand Tirakannavar, Lance Havildar Anoop, Naik Ghadge Shubham Samadhan, Sepoy Nikure Digamber and Sep Mahesh Marigond.
