Mangaluru: The rains triggered by Cyclone Fengal have caused flash floods in some areas and partial damage to a few houses in the Coastal Karnataka districts. However, no major damage has been reported in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.

In Udupi, officials reported that a cow belonging to Shekhar Poojary of Yellur village died due to lightning on December 2. Heavy rainfall caused partial damage to three houses in Brahmavar Taluk.
In Dakshina Kannada, heavy rains led to flooding in several houses and the collapse of compound walls in some areas.
“The district experienced heavy rainfall between 3 am and 6 am on Tuesday. Bajpe, Mulki, Boliyar, Ullal, Mangaluru, and a location in Bantwal recorded the highest rainfall either last evening or this morning. However, no major damage or casualties have been reported,” Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan told reporters.
“There were reports of water entering homes in some places, and compound walls collapsed in other areas. Traffic movement was affected in Kottara Chowki due to the rain. However water has receded in all the places,” he added.
He further stated that local administration officials, including Tahsildars and teams, worked overnight to address the situation.
“The SDRF team also pumped out water from a house within the city limits, and a vehicle had to be lifted by crane at another location. The storm has passed as of this morning. However, as a precautionary measure, we have instructed people to avoid venturing near beaches, seashores, and riverbanks,” he said.
