Did Prajwal Leave Without His Family's Knowledge, Asks CM
Bengaluru: “Did Hassan Lok Sabha member Prajwal Revanna accused in rape, and sexual harassment among other charges flee the country without the knowledge of his family members,” asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday when queried about the claims of Prajwal’s grandson and former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda who had stated that he was unaware of the foreign trip of his grandson.
In a chat with reporters in Mysuru city, Siddaramaiah criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his letters to him not getting a response from the Prime Minister’s Office in particular about his two letters to PM seeking cancellation of diplomatic passport used by Prajwal Revanna to flee the country after his alleged sexual harassment videos were circulated in public domain. Prajwal fled the country reportedly on April 27 this year.
“It is wrong to hope that his letters will get a response from the Prime Minister,” alleged the Chief Minister and said his first letter seeking cancellation of Prajwal's diplomatic passport did not get a response.
“Many of my letters to the Prime Minister did not get a response from him,” stated the Chief Minister and once a Chief Minister writes a letter to the Prime Minister naturally, it is believed that he will respond to it.
Over a statement from Prajwal’s uncle and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy that the Special Investigation Team investigating the sexual harassment charges against Prajwal will not go to the logical end, Siddarmaiah said SIT are constituted to investigate a particular case laying special emphasis on it and many such SITs have been formed earlier.
Regarding other statements of Kumaraswamy who had suspected the sexual harassment case has been allegedly ‘diluted’ by the State Government, the Chief Minister said Kumaraswamy is making efforts to dilute the charges by indulging in levelling unecessary allegations against Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of being a mastermind in the circulation of videos and others. He stated that “Who raped is more important than who is behind the circulation of sexual harassment videos allegedly by Prajwal.”
