Kalaburagi: A 93-year-old female convict, Nagamma, was released on parole from the Kalaburagi Central Prison on Thursday. Nagamma, a resident of Jevargi Taluk in Kalaburagi district and registered as Prisoner No 1135, had been serving her sentence in the women’s section of the prison.

The decision to release her on parole came after a visit by Upa Lokayukta Justice B. Veerappa, who inspected the women’s section of the prison and reviewed the condition of female inmates. Observing Nagamma’s advanced age, Justice Veerappa recommended her release under the legal provisions governing parole. The directive was issued to the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Member Secretary and the prison’s Chief Superintendent.
