Karnataka CM confident of Governor acting as per Constitution
Explaining on the plot allotments to his wife by MUDA, Siddaramaiah ruled out exerting pressure on MUDA by him to get plots allotted to his wife and stated his wife made a request to MUDA in 2014 asking for plots in Mysuru city in lieu of 3.16 encroached upon by MUDA in Kesare in Mysuru city
BENGALURU: “Being head of the Constitution, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot will act as per the Constitution,” Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday exuded confidence commenting on the show cause notice served to him by the Governor based on a petition by RTI activist T.J. Abraham sought prosecution of CM alleging illegal plot allotments to his wife Parvathi by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
In replies to queries from reporters in Mysuru related to show cause notice by the Governor served on July 26, Siddaramaiah stated he has replied to the show cause of the Governor and also his Cabinet Ministers. The Chief Minister said “When everything is legal, the Governor should be convinced.” Adding, he said, “I’m confident the Governor will accept our replies.”
Explaining on the plot allotments to his wife by MUDA, Siddaramaiah ruled out exerting pressure on MUDA by him to get plots allotted to his wife and stated his wife made a request to MUDA in 2014 asking for plots in Mysuru city in lieu of 3.16 encroached upon by MUDA in Kesare in Mysuru city.
“I was the Chief Minister then (2014) and I asked the then Urban Development Minister to reject the requisition made by my wife for alternate plots for losing her land to MUDA. I told not a single gunta of land should be allotted,” he said and added his wife again made an appeal to MUDA in 2021 during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule and “How can I influence?”
“Is there any letter, an order or a statement by me (over plot allotments by MUDA),” he questioned and said “What have I done?”
In reply to a query, the Chief Minister said the opposition parties will not succeed in their bid to destabilise the Congress led State Government and stated "Truth always prevailed over lies."
To the demand of former Chief Minister and BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa, Chief Minister retorted “What moral right he has to seek my resignation?” and stated to expose scams alleged to have taken place during Yediyurappa’s rule in the State in a public meeting in Mysuru city on Friday.
Continuing on Yediyurappa, Siddaramaiah said Yediyurappa at the 82 is an accused in Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POSCO) case and out on bail. He has been charge sheeted in the case and asked Yediyurappa to retire from public life after he has been charge sheeted in POSCO case.
Siddaramaiah stated he has been targeted by BJP and Janata Dal Secular (JDS) for his pro-poor stance and successful implementation of 5-gurantee schemes such as free power upto 200 units a family, free travel for women in State run buses among others.
