Mangaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologize to the people for Maharashtra BJP’s falsehoods about Karnataka government’s guarantee scheme. He has also asked to publicly clarify the truth.
“It is no lie when we say that deceit is the BJP's deity. The Maharashtra BJP has shamelessly resorted to outright lies, trying to tarnish our successful ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ scheme with false advertisements in the media. BJP claims that Congress failed to deliver on the Gruha Lakshmi scheme as promised in Karnataka—an absolute fabrication! We are not surprised by this,” Siddaramaiah said in a post on X tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The wisdom of the head of the household has clearly spread to his household members. Inspired by your misleading tactics, Maharashtra BJP has brazenly spread these unfounded lies about our guarantee schemes. This audacious deceit has been exposed for all to see. Under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, since August 2023, Rs 2,000 has been credited every month to the bank accounts of 1.22 crore women heads of households in Karnataka. A total of Rs 30,285 crore has been disbursed so far. For those who doubt, let them verify with these 1.22 crore households,” he said.
“Prime Minister Modi, since these lies are inspired by your own, I strongly urge you to apologize to the people of this nation for Maharashtra BJP’s blatant falsehoods about our guarantee scheme and to publicly clarify the truth. Maharashtra BJP should retract its lies in the media by publishing the truth in advertisements as prominently as the original misleading ads. Failing this, our government will consider necessary action,” he added.
During an election campaign event in Sandur, Siddaramaiah sharply responded to Maharashtra BJP's “Vaada Kiya, Dhoka Diya” (Made promises, but cheated) ad, accusing the Karnataka government of broken promises. At the rally, CM Siddaramaiah countered with “Vaada Diya, Poora Kiya” (Made promises, fulfilled them), stressing that Karnataka’s five major guarantees, including the Shakti scheme, are running smoothly, in contrast to BJP’s unkept promises. He questioned Modi’s unfulfilled promises, like bringing back black money and creating jobs, asking, “Where are your ‘achhe din’?”
