Mangaluru: Divers recovered parts of a truck during a search operation in the Gangavali River, near the Shirur landslide site in Uttara Kannada district, on Wednesday.

The landslide, which occurred on July 16, resulted in the disappearance of at least 11 people. While eight bodies have been recovered so far, three individuals, including Arjun from Kerala, along with his truck, remain missing.
“At 9 am today, Ishwar Malpe and his team, in collaboration with the Navy diving team, began a diving operation as part of the ongoing efforts to locate the missing individuals affected by the landslide,” said Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya.
"No missing persons were found during the operation," she added.
In a press statement, the Indian Navy confirmed that, in response to a request from the District Administration, their divers from the Naval Base at Karwar conducted diving operations in the Gangavali River. The divers successfully recovered parts of a truck.
“Naval divers recovered parts of a truck during the diving operations. The presence of significant debris, heavy boulders, and trees piled up on top of the probable positions may require dredging. The diving and survey teams from the Indian Navy continue to remain deployed in Shirur and are closely coordinating their search efforts with the district administration,” the statement added.
