Hubballi: Clarifying that the objective of the Waqf Adalats being held across various districts is to remove encroachments on Waqf properties, Minister for Waqf, Minority Welfare, and Housing BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan assured farmers that they will not face any problems.

Khan's remarks come in response to BJP leaders' recent attacks on the Congress government, alleging that farmers in Vijayapura were being served notices claiming their land belonged to the Waqf Board.

Speaking to reporters in Hubballi today, the minister addressed concerns raised by the BJP about 'Land Jehad.' "There are three by-elections in the state and assembly elections in Maharashtra. The BJP doesn't have any real issue, which is why they are politicizing this matter," he said.

Khan emphasized that no individual's property, especially farmers' lands, would be taken away.

"No one can take land from farmers who provide us food. There are laws in place. Can anyone just snatch someone's property? We are only working to clear encroachments on Waqf land. These lands were donated by private donors, not by the government" he remarked.

Reassuring the farming community, Khan stated, "I want to assure farmers that they will not face any issues. This matter is being unnecessarily politicized."

He also noted that Waqf Adalats have been ongoing for the past 8-9 months, with sessions already held in 11 districts.

"After the elections, we will continue these Adalats in other districts also," he added.

When asked about BJP leaders visiting Vijayapura to address the issue, Khan said they were welcome to inspect all the relevant documents.
