Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders on Saturday stated that its previous government in Karnataka got a clean chit by the sleuths of Karnataka Lokayukta over 40 percent commission allegation in availing contractors made by a contractor against the then State Government led by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai (2021-23).

The allegation was made by then Vice-President of Karnataka State Contractors’ Association Ambikapathy which led to Congress party taking to poster campaign “PayCm” against then Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai in September 2022 in Bengaluru city. The 40 percent commission case was referred to Lokayukta.

Referring to the Lokayukta investigation, Leader of Opposition in Assembly and BJP MLA R. Ashok on his social networking account stated the investigation by Lokayukta sleuths have termed the 40 percent commission allegations against the previous State Government led by BJP as ‘false.’

Adding, R. Ashok said the ruling Congress came to power in Karnataka through levelling false allegations against BJP government and also through giving false assurances to the voters. He observed the day is not far away when voters would reject the ruling Congress party and make its leaders sit at home.

In another post by BJP Karnataka unit stated “Congress stands exposed” and added the investigation by Lokayukta sleuths found the complainant Ambikapathy had not availed any contract works from the BJP government in Karnataka and there are no documents to show Ambikapathy did contracting works under Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.

The investigation by Lokayukta pointed out Ambikapathy had stopped taking contract works for about 6 years prior to the allegation.

State BJP president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra stated the Lokayukta investigation into 40 percent commission allegation is a classic case of Congress party capturing power through unethical and false propaganda.

Vijayendra termed the governance given by Basavaraj Bommai as pro-people and development oriented in Karnataka from 2021-23 and people of the State will teach a proper lesson to Congress party over its false propaganda against Bommai government.
