Mangaluru: Mangaluru City police have registered an FIR against Rama Sene leader Prasad Attavar and a person by name Ananth Bhat over allegations of occult practices and ritualistic activities.
Attavar was arrested last week following an attack on a unisex salon by Rama Sene activists. During the investigation, the police seized two mobile phones belonging to Attavar. A forensic analysis conducted at the Cyber Lab uncovered videos of animal sacrifices and other suspicious content.
The investigation revealed WhatsApp exchanges between Attavar and Bhat.
According to the FIR, a series of videos of animal sacrifices were found, in which blood from the sacrifices is seen being offered to deities.
A note containing the names of Prasad Attavar, Snehamayi Krishna, Gangaraju, Srinidhi, and Suma Acharya was found, along with two photographs of Snehamayi Krishna and Gangaraju, which were placed as garlands on a deity’s idol. In one of the photographs, blood was seen splattered over their names and images. A video of the anointment ritual for a deity shows a note containing these names being placed as a garland around the idol’s neck during the ritual.
Snehamayi Krishna and Gangaraju are Right to Information (RTI) activists involved in exposing alleged irregularities within the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) particularly concerning land allotments linked to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family.
WhatsApp messages and photos related to occult practices were found between Prasad Attavar and Ananth Bhat. The FIR states that Ananth Bhat had sent videos and images of rituals to Prasad Attavar, and in return, Prasad Attavar had transferred money to him. It was also found that on December 7, 2024, a photo of a cash-filled bag was sent to Suma Acharya, and on December 8, 2024, similar images were shared with Prashant Bangera, Harsha Mysore and Ananth Bhat, raising suspicions.
A photo and video showing Harsha Mysore, Srinidhi, RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna, and another RTI activist Gangaraju meeting and talking were found. Harsha is said to have shared these with Prasad Attavar.
The FIR states that the act was done with the intention of performing a malicious ritual, where blood was allegedly offered to the deity's idol through occult practices.
A case is registered under section 3(2) of Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Act 2017.
