Haveri: Stating that waqf property must not belong to any individual, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the protection of Waqf property would continue to be included in the BJP’s manifesto in future elections.

Addressing a press conference in Shiggaon on Monday, he advised Congress leaders to read the BJP’s manifesto properly as it states the protection of the original Waqf property and does not endorse any encroachments.

He said that there are Waqf properties worth Rs 2.3 lakh crore and Muslim leaders within Congress are looting them. Joshi clarified that the BJP has no issue with adhering to the Waqf's original purpose and laws. "Waqf properties, donated by both Muslims and some Hindus, should be protected from misappropriation," he emphasized.

The BJP’s stance, he explained, is to secure genuine Waqf properties for their intended purpose and remove unauthorized claims on additional properties. Taking a jab at the Chief Minister and Waqf Minister he added, "We never promised in our manifesto to roam around conducting Waqf Adalats, threatening Tahsildars, or registering Waqf properties forcibly."
