RPF Constable Saves Passenger from Falling Under Moving Train in Udupi

UDUPI: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable Aparna KT rescued a young passenger who slipped while trying to board a moving train at Udupi Railway Station on Friday morning.

According to officials, the incident took place at Platform No 1 when Train No 06602 arrived at 7.02 am and began to depart at 7.30 am.

Constable Aparna KT, on duty at the time, noticed a passenger, identified as Niharika DN, running towards the train with snacks in hand, and attempting to board the moving train. She slipped, and her legs fell between the platform and the moving train.

Reacting immediately, Aparna blew her whistle to alert others, rushed to the passenger, and pulled her to safety with the help of fellow passengers. Meanwhile, the railway notified the guard and loco pilot through flags and walkie-talkies and stopped the train.

Inspector RPF, who was present on the platform checked on the passenger, and ensured she had no injuries. After being provided water and assistance, the constable helped her board the train. The RPF staff at Bhatkal Railway Station were informed to check on the passenger during her journey.

In recognition of the act, the Railway Regional Manager (RRM) of Karwar awarded Constable Aparna KT a reward of Rs 5,000.
