THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Malayalam actor Siddique is evading arrest after the Kerala High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in a rape case filed against him by a female actor.

The court, while denying the bail, described the allegations as grave. It noted that the complainant had faced character assassination and emphasised that every woman deserves respect, regardless of the circumstances. The court also asserted that custodial interrogation of the actor is necessary to facilitate a thorough investigation.

In the meantime, the police have issued a lookout notice for the actor, whose phones are currently turned off.

Reacting to the denial of bail to Siddique, the complainant said she was happy with the development. "Life is a boomerang, and you will receive back what you give," the survivor wrote on Facebook.

However, she slammed the SIT for leaking crucial information to the media. "I am dissatisfied with how the SIT handled the case. For these reasons, I filed a complaint with the DGP. The accused had ample time to destroy electronic evidence and influence witnesses in the case," stated the complainant.

However, I remain hopeful that justice will be served, she said

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is going ahead with the arrest of Siddique. Lookout notices, including at airports, have been issued for the actor to prevent him from leaving the country. The police have stated that there are no impediments to Siddique's arrest. Officers will be travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi for this purpose.

The High Court denied Siddique's plea for anticipatory bail in the case registered against him by the Thiruvananthapuram Museum Police.

In his plea, Siddique stated that the accusations against him were unfounded and appealed for anticipatory bail. Nevertheless, the high court dismissed these claims and refused to grant him the bail. Following the denial of his anticipatory bail application, Siddique might be subjected to arrest in connection with the case.

Siddique's advocate announced plans to appeal to the Supreme Court upon receiving the verdict's copy.

The investigation team has gathered substantial evidence and witness testimonies in the case filed by the young actress against Siddique.

Investigative sources confirm that this evidence supports the complainant's claim of being called to a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram and sexually assaulted. The High Court dismissed the anticipatory bail application in light of the evidence presented against Siddique.

Details of the case against Siddique

The young actor accused Siddique of sexual assault in 2016, labelling him a hardcore criminal.

Recounting her ordeal before TV news channels, she stated, "Siddique initially reached out to me via social media, calling me 'mole' (daughter) in his messages. Two years after completing my higher secondary education, he contacted me again. He continued to refer to me as 'mole' (daughter).

At that time, I was too naive to suspect his intentions. He inquired if I had an interest in acting or films. I was unaware of his predatory nature, as such individuals are often manipulative and deceptive."

“At the age of 21, I attended function at a local theatre in Thiruvananthapuram for the preview of the Malayalam film "Sukhamairikkatte." After the function, Siddique invited me to a well-known hotel in the city centre to discuss aspects related to the film. I was locked in a room. He abused me physically and told me it was okay if I didn't allow him to cross the limits. After that, he grabbed and overpowered me, for a moment several things passed through my mind. The mirror in the room is testimony to my traumatic experience.”

Will he kill me? Will I survive this attack? Will I be able to escape from here? Will I be able to defend myself? Will I be able to see my parents? All kinds of thoughts came in a flash of a second.

"I mustered all my physical strength and mental courage and came out of the room. Before leaving, I told Siddique that I would make the incident public. With sheer arrogance and utter contempt, he told me; ``Go and tell. Who is going to believe you? Have you even acted in one film? Does anyone know you?

"I have already undergone the trauma for all these years. Now I want to lead my life peacefully and do something meaningful in my life," she said.
