Policeman shoots himself dead in Kerala

According to a report by PTI, Vineeth, a native of Wayanad, was found dead in the bathroom of the quarters on Sunday. He is part of the Special Operation Group (SOG), Vineeth had been serving as Thunderbolt commando, which engages in anti-maoist combing operations, in the Malappuram district.

Vineeth was upset for not getting leave after making repeated requests but police are yet to confirm this, reported PTI.

"He was found dead, shooting at himself. The reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained," a police officer told PTI.

The body was shifted to the government hospital for post-mortem and inquest procedures were completed, the police said.
