Hyderabad: Meerpet police on Tuesday cracked a murder case by using technical evidence, within 24 hours of the crime and arrested five persons, including a woman.

Meerpet inspector Kashi Vishwanath identified Dasari Surender, 20, a car driver from Altafnagar Bairamalguda, as the prime accused.

Surender feared Mohammed Salman, 25, the victim, would kill him as he had kidnapped the latter’s sister Saba Fatima, married her and then murdered her.

Based on Saba’s family members’ complaint, earlier, Surender was arrested under the Pocso Act, the inspector said.

Manchala Swarnalatha, 25, the woman accused and three others laid a trap and killed Salman, Vishwanath said.

The other accused were identified as Borra Arun Kumar, 34, of Pochammabagh Colony, Saroornagar; Dugani Laxman, 25, of Gokulnagar Colony, Kothapet; and Kethavath Arun, 21, of Thalakondapalli mandal, Rangareddy district.

Police tracked Surender from Salman’s mobile numbers. Then we checked the victim’s and Surender’s locations on June 8. “We found both mobile phones were at the same location,” the inspector said.
