Mercury Goes Up in Andhra Pradesh by 5 Degrees Celsius

Visakhapatnam: Temperature has risen significantly in many parts of Andhra Pradesh with the southwest monsoon taking a break in the southern peninsula, as predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department.

As per the IMD report, the temperature has risen by four to five degrees Celsius in many parts of the state.

Bapatla recorded 35.8 degrees with the temperature departure being 5.5 degrees Celsius. Machilipatnam recorded 35.6 degrees, with the departure being 4.9 degrees from the normal temperature.

Tuni recorded 35.5 degrees with a departure of 4.5. Visakhapatnam Airport recorded 34.8, the departure being 4.8 degrees Celsius.

“The temperature remained less all these days due to continuous rainfall. It rose on Tuesday as there has been no rainfall in any part of the state,’’ said IMD Amaravati director Stella S.

The temperature is expected to keep rising in this month, no rains are predicted this month. The IMD said July would witness less rains in Andhra Pradesh compared to other regions of the country.

The IMD has forecast thunderstorms for north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema till July 6. Strong winds with speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph are likely to accompany the thundershowers in many places.

IMD said on Tuesday that the southwest monsoon has covered the entire country, with the rain system advancing into the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.
