Nimmala Ramanaidu Releases 1,050 Cusecs of Godavari Water to Krishna Delta from Pattiseema Project

Vijayawada: Water resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu on Wednesday released 1,050 cusecs of Godavari water through the pumps 4, 5 and 6 of the Pattiseema project to reach water to the Krishna delta for of farmers and the people at Pattisam village of Polavaram mandal in Eluru district.

The minister performed puja to the motors and other machinery at the Pattiseema project before releasing the water. Later, the minister released water from Tadipudi reservoir.

He said that it was after five years that the Godavari water from Pattiseema project was being released to Krishna delta. Nearly 80 tmc-ft of water per annum is to be diverted to Krishna delta to meet the needs of irrigation and drinking purposes.

He cautioned that if the water from the Pattiseema project was not released, it would cause trouble to the people.

The minister said that from the Tadipudi project, they were supplying water for 1.50 lakh acres for cultivation of crops and added that they were making efforts for storage of water at Yeleru reservoir too.

He attributed credit to chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for initiating the Pattiseema project earlier, as it would facilitate inter-linking of rivers, and said that the CM asked them not to waste even a single drop of water.
