Nizamabad: Even after completion of the teachers’ transfer, the teacher-pupil ratio maintenance remains a tough task.

Staff in mandal parishad and zilla parishad schools in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts is insufficient.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed the education department to reopen the closed government schools. Citing the lack of students in schools, a few schools closed the institution and merged it with the nearest government schools.

The Chief Minister, however, stressed that government schools should be available at the doorsteps of the people and schools should not be closed on the pretext of shortage of students.

After a gap of 11 years, teacher transfers were done on a large scale by the Congress government. The teachers were transferred to other schools either on promotion or on their completion of eight years of service in the existing school.

Some 1321 secondary grade teachers were transferred in Nizamabad district alone. In view of the promotions process, a few more teachers will be shifted from the existing schools but this would adversely affect the studies.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Bhupathi, a secondary grade teacher, said he got a new place of posting in the recent transfers. “My colleague in the school may be shifted on promotion soon and I will be forced to handle the primary school as a single teacher,” he lamented.

The promotion process should have been completed before the transfers to avoid vacancies in the schools, he said.

“If a school runs with a single teacher, the transfer will affect the studies of the students,” he said, adding, “'When I avail the leave, a substitute teacher will not be available.”

.

However, officials of the district education department said teachers should submit their appeal to the government if there was any injustice in the transfers. Due to technical errors and communication gap, a few teachers would be allotted inappropriate schools, they said.

At least one teacher would be available for 20 students in the school. “There is no scope any irregularities in the government teacher transfers, and the technical errors will be rectified amicably,” they said.
