People advised against using tobacco products

VIJAYAWADA: Health commissioner Dr. S. Venkateswar called upon people not to use tobacco products, as tobacco is cancerous. Speaking at an awareness programme organised by the district medical and health authorities on occasion of the World No Tobacco Day on Friday, the commissioner administered to participants a pledge that they would avoid use of tobacco.

In a related programme at the Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences, vice chancellor Dr. K. Babji explained the importance of No Tobacco Day. University registrar Dr. V. Radhika Reddy administered the no tobacco pledge to the participants. Members of Indian Dental Association, Coastal Andhra Branch, Vijayawada, and Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India, AP branch, organised bike rallies, essay writing, elocution competitions and street plays in villages asking people not to use tobacco products.
