RTC Staff Felicitated for Helping Woman Deliver Baby at Bus Station

Karimnagar: Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar felicitated the staff of the Karimnagar RTC bus station for their help to a pregnant woman in delivering a healthy baby at the bus station in Karimnagar on Sunday.

The 36-year-old migrant labour, Kumari, was on her way to Kunta Bhadrachalam along with her husband and suffered labour pain around the time the bus reached the Karimnagar bus station.

Acting stiffly, station manager N Anjaiah, the women staff members Saidamma, Sravanthi, Lavanya Bhavani and Renuka of the RTC, helped Kumari in delivering the baby girl by creating a screen around the spot with some sarees.

The woman was subsequently shifted to the government main hospital in a 108 ambulance.

The minister, who visited Karimnagar on Tuesday, felicitated station manager Anjaiah and the women staff with a shawl and a reward of Rs.5,000 in cash for each of them.

District collector Pamela Satpathu, additional collector Praful Desai, RTC zonal ED Vinod Kumar, regional manager N Sucharitha, deputy regional managers Bhupathi Reddy and Satyanarayana were present.
