Chennai:Chief Minister M K Stalin, who reached Chicago on Tuesday from San Francisco, was given a warm and rousing welcome by members of the Tamil associations and sangams in the United State that he put out a message on X, saying that he was moved by the overwhelming love shown to him.

Stalin also uploaded photographs of the Tamil communities meeting him at the airport with children and women turning up to greet him and his entourage that included his wife Durga Stalin and State Minister for Industries T R B Rajaa.

Besides putting up a giant flex board at the airport proclaiming, ‘Chicago Welcome Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’, the Tamil people received him by beating drums and playing music with the Indian consul general in Chicago, Somnath Ghosh, too joining in the celebrations.

Among the Tamil associations and sangams that were part of grand welcome were Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FETNA), The Tamil Nadu Trust, Chicago Tamil Sangam, Greater Milwaukee Tamil Sangam, Tamil Association of Peoria, Aaram Group, Bloomington Tamil Sangam, Annai Tamil School and Madison Tamil Sangam.

The Chief Minister would meet potential investors in Chicago and invite them to start industries and businesses in Tamil Nadu with a view to generating more jobs for the people and also put the State on the path to become a ‘US $ One Trillion economy’ by 2030.

Stalin would explain to the industrialists, business persons and other investors the prevailing favorable industrial climate in the State and the ready availability of a qualified skilled workforce that was industry-ready for employment.

At San Francisco, he had already overseen the signing of a slew of Memoranda of Understanding with a wide range of companies that would lead to the generation of 4600 jobs in Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs 1300 crore coming in.

Earlier, the Chief Minister congratulated medal winners at the ongoing Paralympics 2024, Nithya Sre Sivan, Manisha Ramadass and Thulaimathi Murugesan and wished them all the best.
