Chennai: Parts of Tamil Nadu experienced heavy rainfall on Thursday, with forecasts predicting more showers across the state. According to Tamil Nadu Weatherman, South Tamil Nadu is on alert for heavy rain until Friday, with interior districts expected to bear the brunt of the downpour as a low-pressure system moves from the Gulf of Mannar to the Arabian Sea.
Short and intense spells of rain are expected in Chennai until the evening, after which the showers are likely to subside. Meanwhile, popular tourist spots such as Coutrallam and Kodaikanal are forecasted to receive heavy rainfall.
Districts including Madurai, Virudhunagar, Theni, Tenkasi, Dindigul, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, and Sivaganga are likely to experience very heavy rainfall. The Delta region is also expected to witness heavy showers. Additionally, interior districts like the Kongu belt, including Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and the Nilgiris, are also on alert for heavy rains.
